Week 1 Complete

I completed my first week!!! I didn't realize when I start, just how lackadaisical I had become with my eating habits. Every single day I had to remind myself that I couldn't stuff four cookies down my throat when I got a little hungry at work. I also came to terms that I can't say yes to everything that is offered to me. It's funny that when eI try to eat healthier people offer me all sorts of empty calories snacks. Like I have to fight them everyday I work!!! But that's to be expected anyway here is today's (yesterday's technically) weigh in:

I lost 5.5 lbs!!!! I am so excited !!! It's really encouraging to see this results of my hard work! Now I realize that since it's my first week, a lot of this weight is water weight so I don't expect the same results next week, but that would be awesome too !

To get here I have been faithful. I've been staying within my calories limits and going to the game everyday and took pictures of myself there or of my calories burned

(I was really tired afte this workout and was forcing my eyes to stay open 😄)

It's been a long week but I am ecstatic that I stuck with it and I will check back in later on this week and update my progress!!!

Push until you make it!!

Starting Fresh. Days 1 and 2

Hello anyone who is reading!

My name is Victoria. This blog will serve as my space to record my weight loss journey. I also hope that this will help me to stay on track because I can look back on where I came from.  This hasn't been my first time trying to lose weight. The last time I truly tried I actually succeeded and managed to get down to 176 lbs which was my lowest weight since I was in college when I got as low as 155 lbs. ( that number is so far away it's hard to believe I was ever there) Anyway the point I'm trying to make is that I know that I can do this so it's just about putting my mind to it.

On Monday morning I got home from a trip for work and I stepped on the scale because I was feeling sick after a weekend of  bad eating, and I figured it was time to woman up and face where I.. actually was. The scale stopped at a whopping 214 lbs!! Now I know that that may not seem a lot to many but I have never weighed that much in my life. Also this was just proof that I have completely undone 2.5 years of hard work because on January 1, 2014 I stepped on that same scale and was horrified when it said 210 lbs.!!

Moving on, this post isn't for self reflection on what brought me to this point (that will come later); it is just to say that I am starting fresh and going forward. Last week I saw this post about #giveit100 where a mother and daughter decided to exercise and eat right for 100 days and produced reasonable, but amazing results. I think that timeline and challenge like that will help to kick start my journey to health.

I began my #giveit100 challenge on 10/11/16. I've decided for the next 100 days I will go to gym everyday and burn at least 500 calories (more is better) I will also be using myfitnesspal.com for my calorie counting and tracking  (username is vrbuch). I will track my food intake everyday to help keep on track with my goals. Since I weighed on Monday I will just continue using that as my weigh in day. I will do my best to write in here as often as I can to update my progress, setbacks, reflections, and triumphs throughout this journey, and I will start with my recap of the past two days.

Day 1

Back at the gym! this was my pre-workout picture and also would serve as my before picture which I hope will look tremendously different in 100 days!! Getting to the gym is 80% of the battle for me (and I assume is for many people) this day I did 60 minutes on the elliptical and 13 minutes on the treadmill ( I didn't last long on that lol)
I won't lie and say I felt great. I used to be able to do this like it was easy but forty something extra pounds does something to the body, but I was determined to push myself and complete the workout. Distraction works for me with exercising so I just watch some TV shows that I need to catch up with on my fun and the time went by. Also the elliptical doesn't hurt my knees like running does, and I am not out of commission for 3 day so that's a plus. Eating for this day went well until the end of work which I should preface and say that I work night shift so technically this went into day two. Someone brought a pie and I decided that even though I had avoided the cookies, and drink somehow this 4 ingredient whipped pie was worth the 650 calories (yes I looked it up and tracked it) I definitely can't have too many of this slip ups especially this early into the challenge.

Day 2.

I had to drag myself out of bed because usually after working a night I sleep almost all day, but I pulled my aching body up, so I could make it to gym. My favorite Zumba instructor was there so I did his class first, but I feel that when I go to a class and there's brand new music I don't have consistent calorie burning because I spend half the class trying to learn the steps (we'll discuss my lack of coordination later). When the class was over, I wasn't really sweaty, so I hopped on the elliptical to finish my workout. Tracked my food again and today was better (besides that pie from yesterday) but mainly because I slept most of the day and just ate breakfast and dinner. My biggest problem when I'm home is reminding myself that when I'm out of calories for the day. or in today's case thanks to the pie, am already over my calories, I can't afford to eat because I'm bored. If I can remind myself of that, I'll make it through this challenge.
So two days are done and this will be the format of my posts (at least for now). Will post again soon. Thanks to anyone who read to the end!
